The Staff Day, which fell on 16 January 2024, marks the date of the establishment of the SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu in 1987.

The Staff Day was observed over a picnic organized by the Secretariat at Mirabel Resort in Dhulikhel.

HE Ambassador Golam Sarwar, Secretary General of SAARC, and his spouse, Taslima Sarwar, attended the Staff Day picnic in Dhulikhel, as Chief Guests. Directors and staff members and their family members, totalling a number of more than 80,  were present at the picnic.

On the occasion, HE the Secretary General distributed a cash prize and a certificate each to Mr. Narayan Thapa, Chhaffeur, and Mr. Damodar Bhandari, Messenger, in recognition of their outstanding performance during 2023.

The Staff Day picnic included a number of outdoor games, including a  cricket match, in which Directors, staff members and their family members participated to win gifts. These fun-filled outdoor activities were followed by a cultural programme of live singing over a luncheon.

At the end of the programme, Ambassador Sarwar and his spouse distributed gifts to winning individuals and teams of various games.
